Behind the Scenes and Extra Content

The Short Film Show is more than a place to watch short films — it’s a home for the stories and people behind them.
This page explains where to find behind the scenes content and what’s included when you upgrade to the Ad Free Tier.

1. What Behind the Scenes Content Is

Behind the Scenes (BTS) content gives you a closer look at how short films are made.
It includes interviews, production insights, and stories from the filmmakers themselves.
Each feature is created or approved by the filmmaker, offering an authentic glimpse into their creative process.

You’ll find a mix of:

  • Director and cast interviews
  • On-set footage and production diaries
  • Short features on cinematography, sound, or editing
  • Festival discussions and award highlights

2. Where to Find It

BTS content appears directly on the film page beneath the main player.
If a film includes extra material, you’ll see a Behind the Scenes section or tab when viewing that title.
Select any item to play it instantly.

You can also browse featured filmmaker collections in the Extras area of the platform, which highlights new or notable BTS releases.

3. Who Can Watch

Behind the Scenes content is available to viewers on the Ad Free Tier.
Free accounts can view film pages and read about the filmmakers, but playback of BTS materials requires an upgrade.

When you upgrade, the Behind the Scenes sections appear automatically — there’s no separate setup or delay.

4. What’s Included with the Ad Free Tier

Upgrading gives you access to the complete experience:

  • Unlimited ad-free viewing
  • HD quality across all films
  • Continue Watching across devices
  • Behind the Scenes content for selected short films
  • Tip Jar to support your favourite filmmakers directly

All features are unlocked immediately after payment and stay active for the duration of your subscription.

5. Expanding Collection

New Behind the Scenes features are added regularly.
Some short films include multiple extras, while others will receive new material over time as filmmakers share more about their work.
Upcoming releases are announced on the News and Updates page and through email notifications for Ad Free members.

6. Supporting Filmmakers

Behind the Scenes content isn’t just an extra — it’s part of how The Short Film Show supports creators.
Every view, like, and upgrade helps fund the platform and contributes to the filmmaker’s share of revenue.

By upgrading and exploring extras, you’re helping to keep independent short filmmaking alive and accessible.
