Submission Rules: The Key Points

The full terms for submitting a film, the Content Submission Agreement, are shown to you during the submission process, and you accept them there on the last step, before you submit your film. That version, presented at the moment you click ACCEPT, is the one that applies to your submission.

This page used to carry a copy of those terms. We've retired it because a copied contract drifts out of date, and two versions of the same agreement helps nobody. The agreement you accept in the submission flow is always the current one, and you choose between its Exclusive and Non-Exclusive forms as part of submitting.

The key points, in plain language

You keep ownership of your film. You grant us a licence to stream and promote it; we never acquire your copyright.
You must be 18 or over to submit. Our submission agreement says (clause 2.2): “Individuals under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited from submitting Content directly.”
You must hold the rights, including music, contributors and locations, and your film must not infringe anyone else's.
Technical requirements: up to 59 minutes, MP4 or MOV encoded as H.264, from HD 720p up to Full HD 1080p, under 5GB. The upload form declines anything above 1080p and master formats such as ProRes. Non-English films can include English subtitles, and if you don't have them, we can generate subtitles for you; files you supply always take precedence.
Withdrawal: you can withdraw a film within 14 days of uploading it by writing to support@theshortfilmshow.com. After that window the licence continues, unless we decide not to select your film or later remove it from all our platforms, when it ends.
Copyright concerns: if you believe content on the platform infringes your rights, contact us and choose Copyright / Rights / Legal. We investigate every claim and pause use of the content while we do.
